When a decision was made to have an organizational meeting on Dec. 13th, I had no idea it would be this much fun. Of course, we decided to include wine (and a lovely dinner prepared expertly by mrs. ojeffso) to our plans for the evening. In attendance were, Revlis and all the moderators: ShorttheWorld, ojeffso, lcc, seek1 and yours truly. Quite honestly, this is the best lineup of wines I have ever had in one sitting. Here are the list of dead soldiers w/ my rating included.

'96 J. Drouhin Chablis Les Clos - 94
'90 Ch. Montrose - 96
'90 Ch. Latour - 90
'97 Arrowood Reserve Cab - 98 (Yeah, you read that # right!)
'97 Etude Cab - 95
'97 Ch. Montelena Cab - 96
'85 Fonseca Vintage Port - 92
'91 Beringer Nightingale - 91

Unreal experience. TN's to follow in their proper place.

Yes, indeed.

1st & foremost. The Dinner/Food was unreal. As I mentioned to ojeffso (as good as any French restaurant). No exageration, @ all, folks. And, the hospitality of the hosts. What can I say. For those of you that know/met ojeffso. 'Nuff said.

...I did attend better line-ups, but this is up there. Way up there.

My ratings:

'96 J. Drouhin Chablis Les Clos - 94 (sounds good to me, my 1st White Burg., so have to reserve my opinion.)

'90 Ch. Montrose - 96+ (WOW).

'90 Ch. Latour - 90+ (with an explanation from me in the TN section).

'97 Arrowood Reserve Cab - 97+ (WOW).

'97 Etude Cab - 96+ (WOW).

'97 Ch. Montelena Cab - 95+ (with an explanation from me in the TN section).

'85 Fonseca Vintage Port - 92 (agree with j.b.).

'91 Beringer Nightingale - 91 (agree with j.b.).

I love the title of this junket ... "VinoCellar Organizational Meeting".

Did anything get organized at this soiree, other than the lineup of empty bottles?

Cheers, y'all

ojeffso,

I can only imagine. All those guys distracted from business, frolicking around your cellar, tripping over wooden cases of Bordeaux that is older than the meeting particpants, a belly full of great wine and gourmet fooda la Gigi .

Must have been one heck of a productive meeting.
Cheers, y'all

ojeffso,
If the business portion began around midnite, when was it over?
My guess would be around 12:05!

Outstanding line-up. According to Parker, the '90 Montrose, a 100 point wine, won't be ready for years. I have three mags of it and don't plan on opening one anytime soon unless any of you feel it's anywheres near its peak. Btw, what delicacies did Mrs. OJEFFSO prepare? When I spent time preparing dinner a week ago, she kept me company in the kitchen.

board-o-the montrose still needs time especially in mag. i have two bottles left. one will be revisted in about five years. the nose was huge and was still amazing six hours later. the finish of sweet tobacco was the longest of any wine we drank. in about five years the complexity should start showing.

menu
mesculan salad with goat cheese, carmelized onions, roasted almonds, golden raisins and raspberry vinaigrette

four mushroom risotto with gruyere

lemon sorbet

rack of lamb over demi-glaze,maple glazed baby carrots, asparagus, russian poatoes with fresh herbs

cheese-st.andre,taleggio,epoisses,roquefort

dome of chocolate mousse and pear tart
