2001 La Spinetta Moscato d'Asti (courtesy CStore) A sweet fruity sparkler served outdoors with assorted seafood appetizers. Excellent pairing.

2002 Sineann Oregon Pinot Gris (courtesy MJS) Nose of casaba melon, kiwi, and pear. Flavors of melons with a hint of citrus. 89

2002 Sineann Pinot Gris, Covey Ridge (courtesy MJS) Sharper nose than the Oregon. Bigger, not better. 88

1979 Chateau Margaux en magnum (courtesy Board-O) Nose of flowers, plums, and rhubarb. Lacks fruit and depth of earlier 750's. Relatively thin. 88

1978 Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon en magnum (courtesy Fox) Surprisingly light in color, subdued nose of flowers. Not much left. 86

1989 Vouvray Aigle Blanc (courtesy MJS) Moderately sweet. Pears and peaches on nose.

1997 Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages (courtesy smvos) Nose of coffee and spice. Tannin overpowers the fruit. I've had this wine several times and I believe it's shutting down.

2001 Cougar Crest Hangartown Select Merlot (courtesy sparky2) Spicy, blueberry pie nose with rich berry flavors. 89

1978 Chateau Leoville-Barton (courtesy CStore) Nose promises more than the wine delivers. 87

Board_O: are these names that you just made up? And, in fact, it was just you & your wife? Who are these people?

They're people from the WS site. I mentioned this site to them, but as yet they haven't appeared here. All were nice, interesting people, and smvos and his wife actually travelled to Seattle from Des Moines for the dinner.

Most of those folks were with us at the event in Seattle last year, except Fox (who signed up but couldn't make it) and SMVOS (who's from Iowa).

LCC -- ojeffso, Armar and I made it there last year. Where were you?

I was just joking. You know... I figured that.

Seattle: I really wanted to participate. Wife was pregnant.

lcc, I had this wine in December, February, and April, and it was showing well then, though I felt it may have closed a little in April. At the Seattle dinner, it sure seemed to have shut down, and there were two bottles of it at the dinner.
