The April gathering of the Jersey Boyz will be at Le Petite Triomphe in NYC on SAT (that's right, finally a Sat.) April 10th at 7:30pm. We will be doing a HIGH END dinner featuring '93 Red Burgundies. '93 Red Burgundies??? "I don't have any '93 Red Burgundies," you are probably saying to yourself. That is what Wine Searcher is for my friends.

The ticket to this one will not be cheap, but we will need someone to supply some Champagne, a white or two (maybe some '96 whites) and a capper (Port/Hungarian Tokaj/Sauternes).

Post here if you will attend. Le Petite Triomphe will only hold about 14 people or so. I haven't worked out the menu yet, but the food is excellent. I'll let you know what the $ of dinner will be soon. If you are having trouble locating a good wine to bring send me a pm. I may be able to help you find something.

Note to Board-O: You just came back from vacation. You better get your nicely aged '93's over to Triomphe and make this.

I wish I could, jb, but we'll be in Florida then. I will look forward to reading about it.

I am interested, but will depend on the cost. Just too many things going on & need to prioritize. I will keep an eye on the estimated cost figure. Thanks.

'93 Burgs. I have found some promising leads and I know you have a few. Plus, they will probably be drinking better than the '95s.

I know of a place that has the following Burgundies from the '93 vintage: (Alphabetically)

Andre Mussy: 1993 Pommard Eponets $30

Fontaine Gagnard: 1993 Pommard Rugiens $30
1993 Volnay Clos de Chenes $32

Prince de Merode: 1993 Corton Renardes $20

I know none of these are exactly earth shattering wines but since the topic was '93 Burgs I thought I would post. If you want to know more about the store PM me.

Unfortunately we won't be able to make this one... btwn it being Easter wknd & my Dads Bday, though the $$ would have made it difficult for us anyway.

BTW, if anyone wants to stay in the city, right across the street from the restaurant, the Royalton just sent me an email special. Rooms aren't super cheap, but the hotel is drop-dead gorgeous. Depending on how much I spend on the Burgudies, I might stay there. I will decide next week.

ojeffso and I are contemplating changing the theme to '95 Burgundies. He has found a source that has various 1er cru and Grand Cru bottles stored impeccibly. We will make a final decision after Poker Night on Sun.

Ok, time to start putting this thing together. I will talk to someone from the restaurant today and try to get the price and menu worked out. Anyone else interested? We have 8 or 9 right now. 10-12 would be optimal for decent pours.

BTW, we are going to do 1995 Red Burgundies. Start searching for a suitable '95. If you are having trouble, shoot me a pm. I can help you locate something or you can be responsible for a white.

Price of dinner will be $85 per person tax and gratuity included. Pretty good deal, imo. If we have dinner at 8pm, then the private room is free. Before 8pm, there is a $200 room charge. I would rather do it at 8 and skip the room charge. Speak up if you disagree.

Ohh yes, avoid the room charge. I hold no Burgs in my portfolio (red or white), so I guess I would be responsible for the white(s). For now, count us as IN for 2 people. Thanks.

jb - 2
ojeffso 1 or 2
ttepper - 1
Freud - 1
Armar - 2
Revlis - 1
LCC - 2

Total 10 or 11.

Perfect number, imo. But if someone else would like to attend let me know. Still working on the menu, but the options we have sound fantastic. Start sending me pm's about which wine you want to bring. Red Burgs need to be '95 vintage. If you are bringing a white, it needs to be a Burg with a bit of age on it. '96 or older Grand Cru Chablis, Corton Charlemagne, 1er Cru Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, Meursault or Montrachet (Chevalier, Batard, Bienvenue, Le Montrachet). If you need help, let me know.
