Just thought I would report in quickly. Stemor stopped by the house while in the midst of his chilly business trip to the Northeast. First off you gotta love anybody who brings '75 Auslese, especially when the also brings Behrens & Hitchcock!

I'll have some notes up in the near future, but thanks for stopping by Stemor! It's not often I get to fire up the grill with the outside temps below 0. Fun time!

I take exception to that statement. He's just hitting the road again because that sound he hears is me nipping at his heels.

Very true, WIML. You're giving him a serious run for the money.

Thanks, RieslingFan.

For anyone traveling near Hartford's Bradley International Airport, I'd suggest a visit to the "RF home" as the most hospitable wine destination for miles around. He and his charming wife made a delicious grilled chicken and veggies to go with his '02 Donnhoff (Dellchen, IIRC) Spatlese, an experimental '00 Bordeaux (trying to see how many days it took to start to open up ) and a bottle of '75 B. Loosen-Erben UrzWurz Spatlese that I brought (which had been acquired through ojeffso, so it made it from NJ to Memphis and back to Hartford before being enjoyed by a fellow Riesling-lovin' forumite).

Mr. & Mrs. RF are gracious hosts with a lovely home, a fascinating wine collection, and some great pictures of some of the most scenic (to my tastes, anyway) spots on the face of the Earth. Oh, and they're fun people to visit with, too! What a great way to spend an evening. Thanks again, Dave. Be sure to let me reciprocate if/when you can arrange a trip to this neck of the woods.
Cheers, y'all

No problem Stemor. Glad we could host you.

If the weather cooperates more fully next time I can pull out more of the culinary stops.

I'll post some notes soon. I've been tracking the open wines for another day or two. The '00 Bord did finally open up (last night) and was really nice. (La Dame de Montrose) So it took over 48 hours to really even become anything interesting to drink.
