This is just a preliminary feeler to see if anyone would be interested in a night of No-limit Texas Hold 'em to be accompanied with some fine Pinot Noirs. I have been watching Poker on ESPN and Bravo and it seems like it would be a blast to add it to some excellent wines. This would most likely take place at my house in Ewing, NJ sometime in Jan or Feb. Only respond if you are interested. Thanks.

instead of chips everyone can bring a list of their cellar to bet from.

Something I'd be interested in, though maybe a 2nd round as those months are all work for me.

When I'll play, my backer prefers to remain anonymous, though he's been known in a fit of joy to "dump" his "chips" on occasion

Mr. Winetex is obsessed with watching poker on ESPN and Bravo. The latest show is the Celebrity Poker Tournament. Thank goodness for TIVO.

AI.. I like your idea.

I can see it now. I'll see your 00 Bressler and raise you an 02 Shirvington shiraz.
At this point, half of the North Jersey crowd would fold!

No limit just means you can raise any amount. If you ever catch Celebrity Poker on Bravo, you'll see what I mean. Not to fear, we won't be playing for tons of cash. Nor will there be any wine bottles bet. I'm thinking everyone brings a bottle of Pinot to share, buy $60 (or whatever $ everyone is comfortable with) worth of chips and we see what happens. Just fun, nothing too serious.

And Dr. T, no date is set yet. I may be jammed up with the new store opening late Jan. March might be more feasible.

And, yes, I'd like to avoid a thread drift, if possible.

I don't know, lcc. Let's see how many are coming. I prefer to only have 5 people playing, but I don't mind having others over. Plus, we need a dealer. So far...

It's funny how I won't hesitate buying a case of a $60 wine... but start stuttering with using that $60 for anything else.... even food. :-)

Anyhow, I'm definitely in. Time to catch some Bravo episodes!

I just didn't know if you meant unlimited as in hundreds of dollars on the table each hand or something.. That's too rich for my blood.

I'd be interested, but January's looking pretty bleak for me. I'd love to play!

OK, we need one more player to make 5 and a dealer. Believe me, mrs. jb wants nothing to do with this.

Also, I'm thinking either Sat night. (would have to be late) or Sun night a bit earlier. My first thought is Sun Feb 15th. Mon is Presidents Day. Quite appropriate, as I hope to take home as many dead presidents as I can that night. Is that night a problem for anyone so far?

MudPuppy...

I value my life at this point. My wife's birthday is Valentine's Day, and I will probably spend the whole weekend wining and dining her!

I must admit, having her B-day on Feb 14th makes it VERY easy to remember.
