to the san francisco bay area .

mr & mrs mbansek will be in the bay area & available for wine & food experiences on the nights of thu22jan03, fri23jan03 & sat24jan03. mike has expressed an interest in coming to the san jose area for one evening & davidn has graciously offered to host a tasting on either thursday or friday. for what it's worth, i would prefer that this south bay event take place on thursday night. alternately, i would gladly offer to host a south bay dinner or tasting, or a tasting with a dinner at a restaurant, but let's face it folks, davidn's cellar is a must see & foolhardy to even try to compete with .

that would leave friday & saturday nights available for the san francisco & east bay contingents (& others in the area as well), to lay claim to mike & jill's other free evenings while they are here.

others in the area should feel free to add their input.

this isn't to say that there won't be some movement around the bay area by people from the various sub-areas. i might even be able to make another dinner or tasting that weekend . i am assuming that davidn has a commitment of some sort for saturday evening since he excluded that date from consideration for his hosting a tasting at his cellar. obviously he can & will speak for himself (have you seen his post count? ), i just throw this out there for those who might want to include him in any other events they might want to plan for this weekend.

Thursday or Friday evening is fine with me. You all decide.

Maybe Thursday would be better in San Francisco since many work there and it would be easier on a week night. Los Gatos on Friday night might be good so that some could stay overnight in San Jose. Let me know and I'll get some rates.

I can start as early or as late in the evening as you want.

Saturday night I must attend a black tie "dance club" event with MrsN. We could probably meet Saturday night in a hospital if I slit my wrists Saturday morning. That would be better than going to the dance. (Please don't tell MrsN I said this. If you do I won't have to slit my wrists to end up in the hospital.)

I would set up a poll but I don't see where to do it any more.

david,

i think you can only insert a poll when starting a new thread. i checked to see if i could add a poll through the edit function, but that appears to be impossible. i'll just start a new thread specifically for the event at your place choosing between thursday & friday nights.

Polls only work now, it seems, if you make it the initial post of a thread. Rev, can you confirm?

I misread that.

My first thought was "David's stealing my party ideas, setting up a pole."

We're scheduled to head to Utah some weekend in January, I'll check and see though, and let you know if we're in.
