Fellas,
Since I have raised my proverbial hand to organize the next outing for the DC Crue I thought I would toss out a post now to see if there was an overwhelming majority who think we could squeeze something in December or should we look to January? My initial thought was steak, and the Caucus Room was thrown out as a probable option. T-rep I know your not a meat fan and no worries there the Caucus Room has fish as well.

What's the verdict?

December will be very tough for me. My vote is for January, but don't let me keep you all from getting together in December if you all can swing it!

I think I can probably make it, provided it be in the earlier part of December, like the first week.

December is tight but I'd try to make it anyways. Then again, the last three dinners were tight and I made it. Besides, I want one of those bone-in softball size filet mignons that the Caucus Room does so well.

I am probably in, but I have a complication, Jake wants to come if it is steak night. I told him not unless there is no school the next day (just what I need, send him off to school hung over).

But in any case, I'm up for it. After all, I promised Fred that I'd bring the Beringer Cabernet Franc Howell Mountain the first time we went to a steak place.

Who is going to bring the "Mystery Wine" this time?

<<thread digression>>

Any of the local Crü members free tonight?

I have an extra hockey ticket for this evening's Caps game at the MCI Center (Mrs. TJ is sick and isn't going). It's a great set of seats in the lower level near the opposing goal about 6 rows back.

First come first serve (it's free, no need to pay me for the ticket)

Fellow DC Cruites...

I'm good for December...the Caucus Room sounds good and if there's fish on the menu, then I'm good.
Chances are good that the flu will be ancient history by December.....

I prefer to be called a DC Cruton rather than a DC Cruite

I guess that's better than being called a DC Crudite...

Corkage will be now and forever known as a Cruton.

OK, well let's do a head count.

Fred
Corkage, aka Cruton
T-rep

Jaimietown
New guy Andrew??? who by the way sold me a bunch of wine this weekend. I'M WEAK!
JohnnyB- I'm not holding my breath.

OK, dates. I'm good mid week tues-thurs in the first or second week of December after that fugetabowdit.

We can do Caucus room. They are changing chef's actually today and are getting one of Michel Richard's gang to come run the kitchen. They expect a menu change probably in the first week of December, just so you know. Brother Fred and I had a nice conversation with the GM over there and she gave us the scoop. Menu has shifted from steak centric to more new american fare.

Wine: BIG HONKIN' CABS! based on the apps menu I think we could go all red and forget the white unless someone has a hankerin'. We will need a volenteer for our blind tasting, I nominate Jaimetown.

Andrew sold me some wines too, hmmmm Jaimetown, you getting a kickback by bringing this guy to dinner? Fred, was Jaimetown lurking among the aisles when you showed up?

I'm here for ya huckleberry - I'll do the blind tasting organizing if you want. Shall we do CA/WA Cabs or make it an international affair?

I'm in for Dec 2-4 (Tues-Thurs) - Caucus Room sounds good to me. I hung out with Andrew this weekend - he said he probably won't be able to make it in December (busiest month for retail), but he'd love to hang with us more in the future.

Let's stick to CA/WA cabs.

Corkage I feel for ya man, I was definetly lighter when I came out of Cecile's and it wasn't because I lost any weight!

I'm in for the first week of Dec too.

No kickbacks Corkage, just goodwill.

CA/WA Cabs it is - PM me your selection when you have decided and we'll do a blind tasting. Fred, what's the corkage policy (and fee) at the Caucus Room? To be on the safe side, I would eschew anything on their list.

T-rep, if you want to bring a non-Cab since you won't be consuming beef like the rest of us, that's cool!

You guys are KILLING ME. Nail down the exact date and time (most importantly). Nail down the approximate cost of the meal (assuming three courses, right) incl tax, tip etc and let me know (next most important).

It's unlikely I can make it, but I **might** be able to.

December 2-4 works for me. 12/9-11 would be ok too, after that, no way. Truth be told, Thursdays are better than Tues or Wed. but I'll work around that if necessary. Thus first choice for me is 12/4. Cost is not the problem for me as this is my one night out each month that is just for me, not Karen and Jake.

Fred, I'll bring what I promised you I'd bring, but that kinda kills a blind tasting. If you want, I'll PM Jamietown with something else and save the so designated wine for a later dinner. It's not like it will go bad (I hope)

As to the Caucus Room changing menus, as long as there is still a good steak for me to chose if the rest of the menu doesn't make me want something else, I'm ok.
