| Anyone interested in getting together sometime in September for a little BYO action at a restaurant in DC? I was thinking about keeping it small (less than 8-10 people) at somewhere fun with good food and corkage at reasonable prices. I am open to the possibility of a mid-week dinner as well.

| I'd be up for something, but it'd have to be in early Sept. And midweek is fine, too.

| Excellent! This is the place where you and Dr. T met up earlier this year, no? I'm up for French bistro food.  I've also heard Lavandou serves up some good bistro fare in Woodley Park. Early September works for me as well - do you want to do the first or second week of September? I'm up for either. | | | |

| may i crash this midsummers night's dinner? Midweek early September would work for me at Bistrot Du Coin or anywhere else in Dupont Circle as I can walk from the office.

| Of course you can crash, JohnnyB - I was hoping you would respond!  If Bistrot Du Coin is convenient for everyone, that would be grand. I could swing a mid-week (Tues-Thurs) gathering. We could chose from several themes such as: - French wines for French bistro food - Pinot and Chards of the world (probably will go well with lots of bistro dishes) - Rhone Varietals of the world (Syrah, Shiraz, Chateauneuf du Pape) What do you think? | | | |

| Midweek actually works well for me as weekends are getting tied up in preparation for the trip to Italy.

| OK, so here's the plan
1) Bistro Du Coin seems like a good venue as any for the dinner. Will try to do here, unless something else comes up that changes the plan. 2) Give me your top 3 time choices between Sept. 2-4 or 9-11 (Tues-Thurs) 3) With TJ and I commuting from out of DC, shall we say 730pm for dinner? 4) I'll email Corkage and ask him if he and his wife would like to join us.
My wife's pretty busy in September with work so there's a chance I'll be solo - but I'll discuss with her as well.
TJ, do you remember how much corkage was at Bistro Du Coin?

I'd prefer Sept 2-4 timeframe since I don't want to worry about last minute pre-Italy details getting in the way.
I'll check with Mrs. TJ to see if she'd like to attend, she's only a few blocks, if that, from Bistrot du Coin. If we get a choice, we should ask for an upstairs table, too.

| Sounds like fun, but mid week is tough (what witht he kid, work, etc.) I'll talk to the wife however, and maybe we can work it out. I'd love to get together in a smaller group than the VC Rocks dinner and schmooze a little. | | | |

As for the theme, I'm comfortable with anything - though I am leaning toward French wines or the Pinot/Chard theme.

| Off the top of my head, I can probably bring something along the lines of:
Burgundy: '99 Jean Boillot Volnay Chevrets '99 Girardin Pommard Les Rugiens or a Puligny Montrachet (white burg) TBD
I'm also pretty flexible - if a lot of people bring red wine, I'd be willing to pick a white (Burg or Alsatian). I don't have any Rhones right now, and my Bordeauxs are nowhere ready to drink. I also think 1 bottle per couple(party) would be more than enough. It is a school night, you know?

Either night is fine with me.

| Corkage says he could probably attend on 9/4 (Thurs) - and it's shaping out to be a guy's night-out type of dinner. Should I go ahead and get a reservation for Thursday?
Dinwiddie, any kind of Pinot would be fine - let me know what you are interested in bringing.
