Dear Friends-- And even some of the people I know in the DC Cru-- Our mutual Friends Mark Neal, the Neal winemaker Gove Celio along with Michael Browne of Kosta Browne will be the guests of the Rotary Club of DC on April 29 , 2006.

See, the event listing on
www.mollyguard.com/event/25890439

This will be an opportunity to meet and taste Mark and Gove's wines and discuss how they and upstart Michael Kosta are making an impact on the California wine industry.Michael will also be bringing some of the Kosta Browne wines for your tasting pleasure. Wines from both of these producers are regularly listed as top wines by both Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate and a K-B wine was listed as one of the top 100 of 2005 by Wine Spectator--no small feat from the over 16,000 rated by Wine Spectator.

As an aside the French Embassy is a great venue, and the funds raised by the event all go to charity. The Rotary Club of DC has during the last 3 years generated over $330,00 for International projects in addition to funding over $750,000 to local programs in DC.

For those who want something else upon which to hang your hat we'll also be showing about 7-10 French wines from Cote du Rhone, Bordeaux, and Burgundy and even letting you compare the Rhone wines with the irreverant and tasty S. African Goats do Roam.(top 100 wines under $20). And if that's not enough the food promises to be appetizing- from Aquarelle at the Watergate and Lavandou to name a few.

Tickets are limited-- and can be purchased from the site above. $75 is a real bargain!!!

Is this the embassy right across from Georgetown University? If so, it is a beautiful location; I used to go to events there back in college.

I'll do my best to be there.

What I find wierd about the French Embassy is in a town designed by a frenchman this is the LEAST French building I've ever been in...

Check the wesite again as we've updated it with some 98 Chateau Leoville de las Cases up for auction, brunch at the Hay Adams, lots of other wines, dinners etc. I talked to the local wholesaler last night for Kosta- Browne and he was amazed that Micheal was coming and pouring his wines - as there is a clamor for his wines and supply is low. This is good stuff--

Here's an update on the wines we'll be pouring at the embassy in addition to the Neal and Kosta- Browne.

Vincent Girardin Rully Vielles Vignes 2004
Vincent Girardin Santenay Premier Cru La Beaurepaire -2004
Joseph Drouhin Chorey-les Beaune -2003
Andre Brunel Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Sommelongue-2004
Chateau Potensac, Medoc 2000
Chateau Meyney, St. Estephe-2000

And there is a real jewel of a winery in Barboursville , VA that will be bringing their wines for tasting-- All Italian style and quite eye opening.
