| Hey folks, Some of us are planning a late May offline in Fredericksburg, Texas! (At last! I can attend one!!). We're going to have the event at Cuvee on West Main Street, in their cellar tasting room. We're not sure of the date, so please take this poll. Here's the town's website, including links to two of the best B&B reservation services: http://www.fredericksburg-texas.com/fun.htmHere are the events happening in and around town during those dates: May 23-24 Crawfish Fest May 24 Luckenbach's 150th Birthday 24-25 Island Assault: 1944 (http://www.nimitz-museum.org/) 26 Memorial Day Program My brother & sister-in-law's B&B is at this URL. They've actually changed things this month, so the info on the website is a little dated. There are still two bedrooms, but they're separate now. One has a sitting/living room and the other has a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub: http://www.fredericksburg-lodging.com/Belle-notte/default.asp | | |

| Either weekend will work for us at this point. Would it be too hard to get reservs for Memorial Day weekend?

| Winetex - I don't know how tough it will be. My reco is to call around. There are so many B&B's in and around town, I shouldn't think it would be terribly difficult to get a room.
My mother will have her B&B up and running by then - it's about 30-miles from F'burg in a little town called Hunt. Beautiful, peaceful area and a great place to stay if you don't mind the drive. Not too many frills, other than a quiet, quaint place with a very comfortable bed and full kitchen. I'll put a good word in for you if you want.
My brother's place is more complicated to put a word in for - it's 1/2 block off Main Street in the big middle of F'burg. It stays booked pretty solid. But I can try!
Does it look like people want to do Memorial Day weekend?

| Crawfish in Fredericksburg? Are you sure it's not a chili cook-off? | | | |

| We're in for 2 people. I voted for the 31st only because I thought it might me a little easier and a little less crowded that weekend as opposed to Memorial Day. I can just as easily go the 24th. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| I'm making an executive decision - let's do the 31st. It will be a lot easier to book everything I would think.
Give me a nod here in the forum if you'll be in town that weekend and I'll book the room at Cuvee. I'm calling them today about corkage. Freddiburg's liquor laws are a bit more lenient than many places (you can walk down the sidewalk drinking a beer - or a glass of wine if the glass is plastic). So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
If there is no corkage at Cuvee, or if it's only for special bottles, I don't think we'll be disappointed. Their wine list is quite extensive and not outrageously marked up. I'll get a copy of it and will scan it for email distro to those who are interested.
So far the attendee list is: - LilacWine (1, possibly 3) - WIML (2)

| I will confirm babysitting and get back to you shortly. We also should contact WineDrinkerofTX. He must be traveling again, haven't heard much of him lately. | | | |

| Winetex,
If you end up bringing Baby Winetex, there is a very nice teenager (her name is Robbie) in town that I have hired to sit my daughter on occasion - her family is friends with our family. She's reasonably priced and such a nice girl. I think she's 15 this year, maybe 16.

| We (the Mrs. W4E and I) are interested. BYOB would be fine, or if their wine list is as smashing as you say that would be tops too. I would like to receive the menu/wine list email. Also I'm assuming you would use your local clout to get us the sweet cellar/room - assuming we'd fit. Anyhoo, put us as "tentative" pending further details... | | | |

| Winetex, I'll email WDOT this morning. He's been travelling a lot lately and he has also been "firewalled" at work, preventing his posting to the forum except from home. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| Lilac - I think we are good with the babysitting but I'll keep your offer in mind. I'm going to look into lodging today and we should be able to confirm 100% in the next couple of days.
WIML - thanks for emailing WDOT.

| Lilac, do you have an update on Cuvee and attendees? Are we still a go?
I need to book my B&B soon. FYI...the Mrs and I will be coming down on Friday and leaving Sunday morning. If you, or anybody else planning on attending, would like to get together Friday night for something let me know.
BTW, your brother's B&B shows available; both rooms. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| Had some trouble posting tonight, or I would have replied sooner.
We're definitely on!! "Come on down!" as they say on the Price is Right.
May not be too many of us (six?), but who cares!? It will be fun regardless!

| That is "Christine's World" by Andrew Wyeth. Haunting painting. I love his work and wish I could afford an original.
I'm going to Cuvee tonight to talk to the owner about our dinner. Find out about corkage, if we can get a discount if we order a lot of wine (if no corkage), menu, etc.

| Lilac, Have you ever been to the Wyeth museum in I think Wilmington, DE? Lots of Wyeth work there. I love your current avatar, indeed. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| TJ, Most of the Wyeth stuff I know about is in Chadd's Ford, Pa. That's about 15 miles from my house. The place is called the Brandywine River Museum. It's located next to the historic Brandywine Battlefield from the Revolutionary war. Worth a trip if you have the time. Just head North on Route 1 until you find it. It'll be on your right. | | | |

| That's what I was thinking of, bud-dude! Mrs. TJ and I saw that place after we went to the Russian Czar thing a year or two or three ago. Had dinner one night at "The Charcoal Pit" -- ever been? Reminded me of The Flintstones. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |
