I'm in the San Francisco bay area the first part of May.  I'll be in Santa Clara over the weekend of May 2-4.  Anybody want to get together and pull a few corks ?  Friday and/or Saturday night would be better for me.  Sunday is possible, but I'm heading to San Francisco Sunday night, where I'll be the rest of the week.

4th is my birthday and I think Alison has something planned, but I don't know exactly what and/or when.
If you want to consult with her I can PM you her email address.

Tanglenet, I'll be in SF, staying in the Union Square area, Monday-Thursday night, May 5-8. I'll have 1 or 2 work-related events, but I don't know which evenings yet. I should get those fixed in the next week or so, and then I'll start a new thread for something in SF. Are there nights that are better for you ?

Dave, send me a PM with Alison's email. I think I'm up near SFO Sunday night (I'm playing musical hotels this trip), and maybe I can join in whatever she's planning.

Randy, Friday night sounds good, so let me know ...

Who else is up for something ?

Scott,

My evenings are open right now, so I'm flexible.

Hey scottj, I have a software release the prior weekend, but hopefully will be up for something in SF during your time here. Lots of good places to eat. Would love to catch up with other board members in the city...

Checking back in ...

Anyone up for Friday, May 2, somewhere in the south bay ?

My schedule has firmed up for the following week in San Francisco, and it looks like Monday, May 5, is the best bet. Tanglenet, does that work for you ? Saut, is that after your release ? Could be a good time to kick back and pull a few corks. Anyone else ?

Scott,

I'd love to join you if I can - should know in a day or two.  In the meantime a couple of questions: what time will you be finished with your work obligations and what time would you like to gather?  (Assuming you'll still be on Houston time would earlier - say 6:00/6:30 - be better?)  Also, it can be tough to find something interesting downtown on a Monday night - would you be willing to take a short cab ride to find something a bit better?

Randy,  I'm staying in Santa Clara, near the convention center and Great America.  I will have a car, so I can go just about anywhere in the south bay.

I'm trying to figure out what wines to bring with me - I'm thinking about a couple of Maidens and/or Matriarchs.  Young enough so the travel shouldn't bother them, but still should taste OK ...
Doesn't anyone else want to eat and share a bottle or two ?

Richard,  I'm heading to the bay area tomorrow, so I should be off Houston time by Monday ... I hope ...
I'll be wrapping up work early on Monday, so I'm completely flexible about the time.  I'm also willing to hop in a cab or Muni to get anywhere in the city.  I won't have a car, so I am limited to public transportation.

I hope you can join us !

Richard,

What did you have in mind? And, most importantly, are you making a reservation?

I was thinking of Frascati on Russian Hill - they have a table at 6:30.  I'm still only 50% but should know tomorrow.  Kevin - are you a party of 1 or 2?  I don't think Yuriko will be able to join us.

Two it is. Actually, five it is. I can make it and Yuriko will join us as well. The reservation is for 6:30 at Frascati which is on the northwest corner of Hyde and Green Streets on Russian Hill. Warning: Russian Hill is parking hell so public transportation is highly recommended. (The Hyde Street cable car stops right in front of the restaurant so that's always an option.) Or assuming Marilyn will already be in the City, you could hook up with Scott downtown and take a cab.

Richard
