We can't do much without a headcount, so let us know as soon as you know.

Where will it be?

I'd like to let folks know where we are going before asking them to sign up. I'll certainly be able to make it - but right now the rest of the gang (beside my wife) is in Cali and don't even know about this event yet. They are certainly big wine and food lovers and know French wine pretty well (Bordeaux and CNdP mostly) so I know they will be interested.

Hi All,

I am in for 1 (possibly 2).

Also, I am able to secure a location in Manhattan Beach, but the limit would be in the range of 10-12 (maybe 14).

If we could get a head count ASAP, I will confirm with the restaurant and then confirm with everyone here. If a location is already picked, then no worries.

Hey incident,
We don't have a location yet, so go right ahead. I have a feeling it'll be a smaller affair, but we'll see.
Manhattan Beach is good for me, so let us know the name of the place and some details. Thanks for stepping up.

Hi All,

I just realized this morning that the proposed date was changed from the 18th to the 20th. I had arranged with the restaurant for the 18th, and I now need to see if I can change it.

I hope this doesn't create a problem as far as getting into the restaurant that night, but for the moment, please DO NOT make any definitive plans until further notice. I should be able to confirm the space later this afternoon.

Okay, so it looks like we are good for the 20th...here is the catch.

I need head count ASAP, and we would owe corkage for 3 bottles ($25 per pottle), but we can open as many bottles as we want to bring.

So please let me know who is in and I will button this up. By the way, the location is Rockin' Fish (http://rocknfishmb.com/).

So far we have:
Incident (1)
Randy Wigginton (1)
Winoman (2)

Looks like a great choice. I may have even eaten there when it was habachi - waaay back when (in the 80s) when I used to live in LA.

Anyway - I put the word out to our French guests and I will call them tomorrow or Thursday - but most likely it will just be my wife and I.

I plan on picking up some wine in Santa Barbara Co. - though I guess not either Melville or Sanford (two places we have considered visiting)...as both are already carried by the restaraunt...

Ah...Hibachi. As much as we love "The Fish", there is nothing like Hibachi. They do still have the famed "Navy Grog" drink though.

Looking forward to pulling this one together.

What time is good for everyone?

I think I made it for 7pm, but that is easily changed.

I'd prefer a little earlier, maybe 6 or 6.30.
Also, I am bringing along my wife, but she does not drink, you know what that means!

What about the wines? I was planning to bring a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Pinot Noir, but I could also add a bottle of Champagne. Thoughts?

7 works well for me, but 6:30 is possible. 6 is too early for my schedule.

In terms of the wines, any preferences for chard, pinot, syrah, cab, etc? The menu looks really good.

So I will change the time to 6:30, but please feel free to show up earlier. There is a nice bar to help pass time.

As far as wines, I am open to anything. The menu has a little something for everyone (seafood, prime steaks, etc.).

Does the theme "Free-for-all" work, or should we try to focus in one a few varietals?

So far the list includes:
Incident (1)
Randy Wigginton (1)
Winoman (2)
Marco (2)

Room for more, pile on people...

Free for all works for me. I'll bring a bottle of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Randy, if it's not practical or a hassle for you to bring a bottle, don't sweat it and I'll bring an extra.

BTW - what name will the reservation be under? (I guess i could look for the crowd with the wine bottles under their arms eh?) And if I have some interest for more then 2 (my wife and I) comming should I just bring them?

We are boarding a plane for LA (well Long Beach) in about 7 hours so its to bed for me...
