it was another spectacular night at Brasserie Beck. We had several appetizers to share including the meat, pate platter, mussels in wine and garlic, winoman had his favorite onion soup,  a steak tartare, and something else I can't remember- when you see the beer list you'll understand. Scottj from Houston joined us and we again sat at the Chef's table and Isan again was our able server along with asst. mgr. Scott.

Then we shared several entrees including what had to be the best cassiolet I ever had with pork belly, lamb sausage, and a grilled beef, then two NY strip steaks sliced for sharing and the wine and beer stew( it was cold outside but really warm at our table). the table service was wonderful and two large bowls of the house fries came between courses. They are a cardiologist's nightmare as they are fried in an oil including some duck fat- and not a fry was left.

We had 8 beers and I'll let someone else comment but I'll list them as I don't think anyone else has the list.
1. Floris Witt- light low alcohol wheat beer
2.Dutchess Burgoune- another wheat beer with the appetizers
3. Campus- a more full-bodied wheat beer
4.Delirium - a full-bodied wheat
5. Pirrat-beginning of the darker ales
6. St. Bernadus- another toasty dark ale
7. Ommagang Chocolate- A NY charcoaly, experience(winoman's personal stock)
8. Kasteel Rouge- for dessert- a cherry ale that both cleansed and excited the taste buds

We were all stuffed and had nothing but praise for the food , beer and service.

I'll second everything. Just wonderful all around - food, service and Beer/Ales. Like Joyce said at one point though - I might have been up for some more heartier Belgians - like a Triple or several  - though considering my drive home (actually it was rather uneventful and easy/light) - perhaps the # and intensity of the drink was just about right

My wife Lynda really enjoyed the leftovers BTW - the Cassiolet - (most yummy) and the beef stew - thanks guys!

I've always been a big Delirium fan - and this one didn't dispoint - its very drinkable (for a Belgian - which often require me to be in the mood as it were). The Campus was very citrusy and much like a lighte German Weisbier. The St Bernadus was rich and very tipical of for instance a Chimay Red label - sort of standard Belgian semi-dark. And the Kasteel Rouge was wonderfully sweet and delicious! What struck me was the freshness and perfect serving environment (glasses specifically tailored for each drink) that really made it. I coudl have drunk 2-3 more of each - easy!

Anyway - sorry for forgetting my camera...

And as usual some great/most interesting conversation....I wouldn't have been suprised to hear Norm say to Scott - "I am your father Luke" - for all of the commonality in their background experiences (places lived and travelled to etc).
