| The '94 Muga Rioja I had the other night got me thinking about another 'oldie' in the cellar, so's I popped the cork in this '91 to give it a looksie.
Deep garnet color, very clear, w/long, clear legs. Initial aromas out of the bottle include wet leather, pencil shavings, and tart red fruit. Dark cherry, chocolate, pepper, cedar, and mineral flavors compete for your senses, and a fairly stiff backbone of tannins are still present. Tart fruit, oak, and spice on the mid-length finish.
$28, 88-90 pts., a nice treat. Showning well/ holding its own but probably near the end of its 'peak'.
