92 RWP; 90 Winetex; $22 (!)

This is another very nice Spanish wine. It is a medium ruby in color and made from the Tinto Fino varietal. There may be more varieties in here but I’m not as familiar with the Spanish grapes.

There is dark fruit on the nose with a bit of oakiness. It has a silky mouthfeel with soft dark fruit including plum and black raspberry. It is well-balanced with good acidity. There are tannins on the finish. It is drinking very well now but should hold for 2-5 more years. My impression is that this is very well-crafted wine and one that matches well with food.

Edit to add - this is the first time I've ever had a stem in wine. Hmmm.

A “buy more” in my book. Ssshh, don’t tell anyone else.

We had another bottle of this last night. The TNs are consistent.

The bizarre thing is the stems in this wine!! In both bottles there have been at least 2 stems. Is this bad quality control, a quirk in the winemaking or other?

I've had 3 or 4 of the '99 Moro's and haven't come across a stem yet. I'll be watching closely when I open the other 2 we have.

I generally agree w/ your TN's but would add that the Moro is my favorite Spanish wine of late. One caveat - I haven't opened a Numantha yet. I do prefer the Moro over the Termes though.

From reading Winetexs' notes on this wine, I will be surprised if you think the Numanthia and the Moro are in the same league. I will keep my eye out for the Moro though as it appears to be a great value.

I prefer the Moro over the Termes as well.

JB is right - the Numanthia is in another league, the WOW wine league. I've been really good about not getting into the Numanthias but every time I read about someone opening one I think about it. Luckily they are off-site save one bottle so the damage would be slight.

We opened another bottle of this wine tonight. The TNs are consistent as well as the two stems plus sediment per bottle. The wine is good but then I see the stems... At least I don't see them until after the wine is mostly gone.

That's what they think "unfiltered" means. I still have another bottle but I've never seen anything other than a little sediment.

This is about as unfiltered as I would ever like to see.

Luckily the wine is very good!
