This is made by Sara Pérez--daughter of José Luis Pérez Verdú and possibly one of the prett...er...most talented young winemakers to see the light on Spanish soil. She's worked in the shade enough now, with several vintages at the mother house (Clos Martinet) as well as in Cims de Porrera, Ribas de Cabrera, and Vall Llach. Now that her Llach liaison is broken she's headed for new projects in Bodegas Mustiguillo, as well as elsewhere in Cataluña. Venus and Eneas are the two bottlings of her own La Universal project in Montsant. Eneas retails for 10E and delivers twice that much effortlessly. Overdone by most standards, it's nonetheless a very pleasant thick young wine exuding many virtues but wanting balance very badly. Nowhere near the 95 points awarded by Peñín but certainly a stunning first release... 89
