Felipe Monje, spearhead for the Tacoronte D.O., produces small quantities of this red every good year. The 98 is dedicated to the late Alfredo Kraus--local glory and superb opera singer who recently passed away. Either I've sold my soul to the devil or this has become cleaner and more modern, retaining better fruit. The palate is tamed but the nose is superbly mature, showing excellent ageing. Very attractive bouquet with spicy balsamic nose. 88 / $35
