2003 Bodegas Castaño Monastrell Yecla - Spain, Murcia, Yecla (7/20/2006)
WIML87-88?,PURPLE89,NOWWA,NOWS

Tasted July 20, 2006 at home. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Rot Wein glass. Dark plum color, dusty throughout. Nose of dark fruits, plums with a little earthy/leathery aroma towards the end. Flavors of pums, blackberries and black licorice. Later took on a sort of metallic like taste with air time. Light to medium acidity, medium tannins, slightly elevated alcohol. Drink over the short term. Based on the local retail price of $8.09 I paid I’d say the value here is acceptable but I’d likely pass on buying more. One bottle left in the cellar. (87 pts.)
