2003 Mas Doix Priorat Salanques - Spain, Catalunya, Priorat (6/17/2006)
WIML90,PURPLE90,WA95,NOWS,IWC88

Tasted June 17, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel Vinum Cabernet Sauvignon glass. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Slightly closed nose showing a little fennel, asphalt and some floral components. Flavors of blackberries, Bing cherries and black licorice. Rounded tannins with medium acidity. Seems to be at an awkward stage right now. I’d recommend holding for a year or two and retaste at that time. Based on the local retail price of $28.89 I’d say the value here is agreeable with the possibility of moving up to recommended with a year in bottle. (90 pts.)

Parker gave this a 95?

Yep. I was shaking my head and couldn't see why myself. Guess I'm just a numb nut.

I find he usually scores Spanish wines 3+ points more than I do.
