  • 2004 El Coto Rioja Crianza - Spain, La Rioja, Rioja (9/11/2008)
Popped and poured. Medium ruby garnet. Nose is nicely perfumed with red cherries, raspberry, earth and a touch of spice from oak. Medium body, this is a very crisp and refreshing Rioja with a core of pleasing red fruits supported by perfectly balanced acidity and tannins. Added notes of tobacco leaf and herbs developed as the wine aerated and warmed in glass. Perfect wine for food. I purchased another bottle of this to see if it would be as enjoyable and live up to the bottle I tasted in July, needless to say it most certainly did. A great QPR for around $10.00 retail........reminds me of Muga Reserva from a lesser vintage. (86 pts.)
