| I suppose a new year brings about resolutions. About half way through last year I started making a more conscious effort to work out to MAINTAIN my weight. I did that successfully. Now this year...my main focus is the abdominal "cushing" that is so freakin hard to get rid of no matter what you do.
So this is my *plan* to achieve my goal: 1. Workout 5 days out of the week (instead of 3 like I am doing now) 2. Add more cardio...atleast 45 minutes each workout (I was doing 30 minutes) Lack of stamina is my problem. 3. As for diet...sheesh...this is always a hard one. In general, I am going to try to do more chicken and fish with vegetables. I've cut down a lot on desserts and that is mainly due to not wanting sweets. My weakness is cheese. I have switched to low fat mozarella and Babybel light for snacking. Doing the diet drinks and lots of water as usual. 4. I've reintroduced myself to the active lifestyle I *use* to have prior to being busy as hell with trail biking and hiking...we'll see how long this lasts.
I just bought a new pair of New Balance 1222, which feel like walking on air, and I'm ready to get in shape!

| BellaDonna, good luck. Every year around this time, my gym is full. It will thin out by the end of the month.
Obviously exercise is important, but I've found that for losing weight, I lose a lot more with weights than cardio.
As far as diet, I avoid bread and minimize pasta and rice. I try to get most of my carbs from fruits and vegetables. Diet drinks have less calories but I suspect that artificial sweetners are in the same class as margerine, trans fats and high fructose corn syrup as items to avoid like the plague.

Lucky for men that weights will cause more weight loss than cardio...sucks for chicks.
The diet drinks that I consume are all calorie free...filled with artificial crap though

| I lost 16 pounds last week thanks to an esophageal perforation.
My goal is to keep the weight as currently stated but rebuild the body strength and corpus tone with more than historical activity.
While I disagree with regimens per se since they add specifically little benefit other than mental initially the activity by"need for routine", my overall plan centering primarily on exercise through various means will be far greater than in recent past. Diet has always been good.
So is my resolution! Call me in December to see if I 've stuck to it.
