| On next month's Nevada ballot there is a motion to legalize possesion of up to one ounce. Some of the local clerrgy members have supported this bill, but I doubt that it will pass. | | | |

| One never knows. It passed in Denver already. I think it is on the state ballot this year too.
Though if "they" want to prosecute you anyway, they can. The feds have said they will ignore the law. And anybody in Denver that wants to ignore it can charge you under state law (currently) or federal law.

| What Mbansek says is true. The Feds will ignore any state laws and prosecute people under the federal laws. They have done so in San Francisco/Oakland. | | | |

| While this is true generally, in practice, it doesn't really work that way. 99% of all stops and arrests are done by local/state officers. No federal involvement whatsoever. So let's say you get pulled over for speeding and have an ounce or less in a baggie in plain view. While a federal agent might ignore the law and arrest you, the local officer will honor the state law, and ignore the bag. Since no federal officer was at the scene, there is nothing to prosecute. One need only fear federal reprisal if one is the subject of a federal arrest or sting operation. That would be pretty rare unless you are a doctor handing out presecription doses or are a dealer who is being tailed by the Feds. In any event, chances are that those people are in possession of more than the 1 oz threshhold anyway. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

| It's all subjective.
Willie got busted with a quarter bag in Williamson County (directly adjacent to his "hometown" of Austin) and went to jail.
He got busted with a pound and a half in Lafayette, La. and got a citation. | | | |

| While it is "legal" in Denver, the cops here will tack it on to other crimes to increase your punishment if you're committing a felony. So it's still not legal in any real sense, but Denver Police have been instructed to ignore less than an ounce if that's the only crime you're committing. Slow progress is still progress | | | |
