I am taking a group of 25 semi-wino adults on a one day bus tour of the Napa Valley. So far the agenda is:

10:00 am to 11:30 am: Cave tour at Del Dotto.

Need place for lunch. We will be bringing our own box lunches and would like a winery with a picnic area that we could use to eat.

We may try to sneak a quick visit to Rombauerl. We could eat there but we would have to split the group and some would probably have to eat sitting on the wall.

1:30 pm to 3:00 pm: Montelena

3:30 pm: Thinking about Berringer. Any other suggestions for a group of amatuers?

6:00 pm: Dinner at Don Giovanni.

Back to San Jose.

Cuvaison has picnic facilities and they are located right on the Trail on the way to Chateau Montelena.

There's always V. Sattui, but they are so busy it's sometimes difficult to find a place to sit there even with all the tables. I'll continue to think, but wherever you go, it may be worth it to call ahead to make sure that you can eat on the premises, at a picnic table or otherwise.

It's been a while since I've attended an all out tour, but I've heard that Mondavi has a fairly good one that is quite comprehensive.

Beringer is pretty good as well.

Another thought may be to hit the Taylor's Refresher and dine there.

La Famiglia Mondavi has nice picnic grounds overlooking the valley, with a bocce ball court.

If you wanted to eat right after the cave tour, William Hill Winery is right up Atlas Peak Road a short ways and has a beautiful overlook of the valley. I'm not sure of their restrictions but it's an easy jump back onto Silverado Trail afterwards.

See what Georgia can do for you at the cave for lunch. I took a group 2 years ago and it was raining cats and dogs and Georgia was gracious enough to shift some things around for our Oakville Grocery platter to be delivered there and consumed in the caves with Del Dotto wines. It would have been too wet at the pre determined Phelps appointment to eat in their picnic area. Georgia saved the day!!

DavidN, the new building, and views of the valley, at Siverado is absolutely beautiful. Plus the ties to the Disney family is always an attraction to semi-winos but don't expect to see a single mouse wearing gloves the entire place.
