Anyone know any decent wine shops in the British Virgin Islands?

Not sure. It was part of the Cruise that I took about 2-3 years ago. Great beaches, water. Nice place. Have fun.

If the BVI are anything like the neighboring USVI, then you better bring your own. I've been to all three USVI and Virgin Gorda (BVI) and found virtually nothing in the way of decent selections and/or prices.

Beer and rum-related beverages are the most obvious choices for beverages. (Carib or Red Stripe mon)

I was afraid that was the case. Getting a bunch of wine to the island is going to be easier said then done unfortunately.

Good luck.

You can always hope that things have improved since I was there (Nov 1999 and Aug 2000).

JW1: Try this link. These guys are located in Roadtown. They deliver. Can't say that their inventory is up to your level, but they are the best bet for purchasing while in BVI.
BVI Wine

Yacht Harbor has a liquor/wine shop at the Bath and Turtle. (Great bar by the way). That's on Virgin Gorda. Other than that, your best bets are BYO and/or rum drinks. You can't leave the islands without trying a "Pain Killer" with Pusser's Rum.

Are you renting a villa or staying at a resort? Let me know if you need any other ideas/suggestions.

I'd be wary of spennding much on any wines in the Caribbean. I bought some Rhones in St. Maarten that were cooked and some wine in Martinique and St. Kitts that seemed prematurely aged. A very short time sitting in the broiling Caribbean sun will cook them.

First, I have not travelled/stayed in many "high end" or "all-inclusive" places in the Caribbean, so take this for what it's worth.... I have been to Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad, Dominica and much of the Caribbean coast of Central America (Yucatan, Belize Cayes, Bay Islands of Honduras, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica; Bocas del Toro, Panama), etc. Nearly invariably the selection in the local mom-n-pop stores is poor, cooked and expensive. Most frequently you find off-name French wine (influence of Guadeloupe and Martinique?) and Chilean wines.

Who knows what the upscale resorts have stocked, but I wouldn't hold my breath. While any one of them might have a handful of good labels, expect to pay dearly for them.

Sorry, but for better or for worse, the Caribbean really isn't a wine kinda place.

Thanks all for your replies. JimmyV thats a great link and with a fair amount of Ridge, Drouhin, Penfolds, Beringer, and Mouton on hand its tough to complain. We are staying with friends at a private home while we are there. Will have to take a boat over to pick up wine from that shop but that place looks like it will do in a pinch.

Funny how you zero'ed in on the very wines that caught my eye. '97 Beringer Pvt Rsv and '97 Beringer Howell Mt Merlot for around $90 each aren'tt bad. Throw in some Ridge and a Bin 707 here and there, and you can't expect anything better in the islands. And while it's not my favorite sparkler, '95 Dom Perignon for around $90 would make a nice drink under the stars.

You are right the Dom looks like a relative winner. For beach sipping, the double mag of Pinot Grigio for $45 isn't too bad on a bang for the buck basis considering the circumstances.

I see they also have Cloudy Bay SB 2002 for $16. SBs look like a perfect wine for the environment. Thanks again JimmyV.
