I see that the new Michelin guide is due to come out tomorrow.  Here's a story in the Chronicle that lists all the restaurants.

Main news is that La Toque and Quince both lost their stars, Coi gained a second one.

I think it's also news that French Laundry maintained their three star status...the only restaurant in the Bay Area with that claim.  Now if only I knew somebody that worked there that could help me get a reservation??  Hmmm....

The fact that Manresa maintains a star shows how ridiculous this is. I'm sorry - the restaurant cannot cook duck such that it is not chewy.

French Laundry still deserves 3 stars based on my experience. With Bob & Stacy, it was not the transforming experience it was the previous occasion, but it was excellent from start to finish, with only a couple of dishes that I would consider "misses". (Not bad, but not great either)

They are easily as consistent as 2 and 3 star restaurants in UK, Italy and France.

Manresa isn't that bad Randy. I agree it is not great though. I think David Finch is a great Chef. He does some fantastic dishes though that just don't appeal to me. IMO he goes overboard on the "fru-fru" factor.

The Plumed Horse earned a star. I gotta tell you I really like the place. I can't remember a restaurant that I have liked as much ever. And I say it isn't really all that expensive. One just has to watch what they order. One look at the menu and I see a dozen different dishes I want.

Another thing... I tend to be a "yellow brick roader" and order the same thing time after time at a particular restaurant. At Plumed Horse I am enticed to try something different each time I go there. I have never been disappointed!
