This has been a dream of mine and I'm going to do it but I need friends to help guide me. I consider many of you friends.
Yes, I know it is nuts, because I am a solo woman heading out ; but the thought of it gives me such a rush.
Let me preface this by saying I am 'heading out' in a fully restored '53 MG/TD. A chitty chitty bang-bang looking thing-but no way to really lock it up.
I know how to change tires, fuel it, and use the '53 tools should I get into mechanical trouble. I have all zipped canvas windows and c-roof should I need them before I get out of Texas

(Like we are going to get rain)
Not worried there.
What I am wondering about are the hotels on the way to my destination and not for just my security as a single white 99 year old blonde alone but more importantly for the MG's security. It is one of my pride and joy's.
When I drive it to a grocery store, even where I live and people know me and I park it in the back, I can be sure that some one will be pulling up one half the duel hood to check it out.
Once I found a Dad place his 5 year old in the front seat and his son was blasting the horn as the Father tinkered with the engine. Arrhhg! I could barely get out of the store before the Dad was tempted to hot jack it.
(actually, I was a bit grateful that I heard the horn since I forgot where I parked it until I heard it the Rg Arg Arg....silver linings and all
This will be the first time I really take it on the road by myself.
SO: I am going from Marble Falls, Texas to Albuquerque on to Santa Fe, then Colorado Springs and then Denver. I will end up in Vail. .....Hopefully and godwilling.
Rec's for great hotels/restaurants with great wine lists will be most appreciated.......but most importantly secure/obscure places to stay with dollars not being an option.
I have tried to do this on-line, but I don't get details.
I'm sure some of you have been to some of these places and know the out of the way/out of boundary locations.
Inn of the Mountain God's
or....Inn of the Mountain's God?
Many thanks for all help,
