A buddy of mine living in Seattle is looking for a good shop.  He pretty much lives downtown, not far from the stadium.  I'd like to point him in the direction of a shop with a pretty good selection.

He's hosting a "wine snob" party, where he's going to ask the guests to bring something under $X, then he's going to provide a bunch over $X, and taste them all blind, expecting hilarity to ensue.

He should be quite close to Esquin

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is... .ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon.

Gargiste has a very small but sometimes interesting retail section - call to see if they will let you into the warehouse to look.

M&S is good, but moderately overpriced unless you buy the $100 membership (entitles you to ~15% off).  Went to the Ravenna store and they had quite a nice selection of mailing list type wines.  The Queen Anne is supposed to lean a litte more towards the European side, fwiw, but I have yet to visit.

Pete's Wines is in Bellevue (102nd, I believe) and has had some good stuff when I've visited.  I believe they also have a downtown location, but haven't been to that one.

Finally, there's a Fine Wine and Cigars place in Redmond Town Center that also carries some nicer bottles.  Lot of Hanzell last time I was in there.Â

I liked the selection at Pete's in Bellevue - pricing is not bad either.
