| Going to be in Champagne the first week in Sept, and would like to add a couple of days in Alsace before returning home. Here's the plan:
Take train from Reims or Epernay to Colmar and rent a car. Return to CDG airport from Colmar via train.
Doable? | | |

| it is only about 35 miles between Colmar & Strausburg.
I would really look at the train schedule / route, as you will have 1 or 2 transfers from Colmar to Paris, and then CDG.

| FWIW, we took a train from Reims to Nancy, then rented a car from there. | | | |

| Strasbourg was one of my favorite cities in Europe. I can recommend La Maison Kammerzell (check the spelling on the last bit). | | | Leave the gun. Take the cannolis. | |

I would really look at the train schedule / route, as you will have 1 or 2 transfers from Colmar to Paris, and then CDG. Thanks, this is perfect. On TripAdvisor, another poster mentioned, "...you have no direct train from Reims to
Colmar, the TGV go to Strasbourg from Reims (bit outside from Reims)
(nothing from Epernay) and you have to take another train to Colmar. So
take the TGV, rent your car at Strasbourg and go through the Alsace wine road
to Colmar and back to Strasbourg on the highway," so it seems getting the car in Strasbourg might be a better way to go. Either way, looks like there'll be more than a few train transfers, especially on the trip from Alsace to Paris CDG. BTW, I'm getting conflicting info about getting from the train station to the terminal. Is it difficult...or lengthy?

| as found on the CDG airport web site. laceName>ParislaceName> laceName>CDGlaceName> laceType>AirportlaceType> was one of the first airports in Europe to have an integrated train system serving it: the RER rapid TGV train service reaches central Paris in approximately 45 minutes, Disney World in ten minutes and Lille and Brussels in an hour. Regular RATP buses, taxis and limousines also operate from laceName>ParislaceName> laceName>CDGlaceName> laceType>AirportlaceType>, and road access from Paris is on the A1 via Porte de la Chapelle. | | | |

| I took the train from Strasbourg to Paris in 2000. It was an easy one-train trip arriving at one of the stations on the north side of Paris, Gare de l'Est I believe. You should be able to take another train into CdG although you could just as easily take a taxi to the airport from the station. I used RailEurope to buy our tickets: http://www.raileurope.com/us/Update: I just checked the train schedules on RailEurope. It appears there is now a TGV from Strasbourg straight into CdG, but you should confirm this is the case with RailEurope. | | | |

| For detailed information about train schedules in France, check out www.voyages-sncf.com . There's lots of detailed info, and in most cases, you can buy your train tickets online. According to the train schedule, there's a TGV from Strasbourg into CDG (without having to go into Paris). The challenge, however, is the timing. The schedule shows 3 regular trains - early morning, mid-day, and early evening, but the schedule might not synch perfectly with your flight plans. The less stressful approach might be to just take the train into Paris, spend a relaxing evening there, and then head to the airport the next day. | | | |
