| Since we moved here to start the winery, I have been dying to find some real bbq somewhere, anywhere, within 100 miles of Sacramento.
I'm ready to accept the fact that I'm not going to find bbq like I have had in Atlanta, Jacksonville, South Carolina, etc. but without naming names, I haven't even been able to find something halfway authentic with the 12 hour fall off the bone pink through and through. Its all either grilled, overdone, dry, whatever.
Even Blue Ribbon in Newton, MA where I grew up was better.
Any suggestions? (yes, I've tried Ludy's, maybe it was just an off night).
Thanks

| Try Uncle Franks in Mountain View (used to be in East Palo Alto). http://www.unclefranksbbq.com/ | | | http://scmwine.blogspot.com - My wine blog.
http://scmwine.wikispaces.com - your guide to the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley
| |

| At Bounty Hunter in Napa we smoke Pork Butts and Briskets for anywhere between 13-16 hours. The brisket is pretty damn rockin. Our ribs are also pretty tasty - but our beer can chicken is the star of the show.
I've heard of a pretty good BBQ place in Sac... just can't think of it. I'll find out and let ya know.

| Bounty hunter is a restaurant? I thought it was just a wine reseller? | | | |

| In the South Bay I've always enjoyed Armadillo Willy's. I will say that I have probably never tasted what you might call the real thing but for me this is some of the best I have found. It appears that they have a sister restaurant in Sacramento called Flying PigClick on the Flying Pig button at the bottom right of the page for their menu. | | | |

| Kinders is pretty damn good. I am a regular at the Labor Day BBQ event in Sparks Nevada (Keep that on the down low) and Kinders is always the best. They just opened up a location in Roseville a year ago. | | | "Everyday is worthy of a glass of sparkling wine" - Andrea Immer MS | |

| Sounds like some good ones to try. Thanks. You know I have to try Kinders just based on the name alone.
I've have Flying Pig quite a bit for lunch (pulled pork or brisket sandwich) and its not half bad. Tim tim@kindredwines.com

| Try BarBer's Q in Napa. Off hwy 29 at Trancas Street in the shopping center with Orchard Supply. Fall off the bones ribs.
"BarBersQ is a new casual restaurant serving a well rounded selection of American fare, featuring Memphis style barbeque. We celebrate Barbeque as part of our American Heritage along with grilled West Coast Oysters, Fried Pink Shrimp, Fresh Fish, Grass-Fed Beef and Whole Roasted Vinegar Chicken."
The Memphis pulled pork sandwich and chipotle braised short rib sandwiches are my favorite. They have two kinds of ribs, that fall off the bone. I haven't had anything there yet that wasn't awesome. They change it up too, the flank steak was really good this last week. Don't pass up the vinegar chicken.
They have a smoker in the kitchen that is the most impressive I've seen. | | | Skippy
