I have recommended a number of restaurants that have just had major changes. As a result, these restaurants can no longer be recommended.

Julia in Japantown, a restaurant I absolutely love has been sold to a Chicago based restaurant management company. Julia McClaskey, the chef, will be gone from the restaurant before the end of May. Without Julia at the helm, this place will take a nose dive just like what happenned at Dine when Julia left to open this restaurant.

The Meetinghouse in Pacific Heights for the last eight years has been a destination restaurant for rustic ingredient based American fare. Sunday brunch was always a highlight. The Meetinghouse is closing within the month. When Pacific Heights based long term restaurants go down as a result of economic conditions then the economy must really really be bad.

Too bad, Jones, that you do not live in our area. I love & try to keep up with these Restaurants. And, I would love to hear more updates about some of ours (as you make the scene more often than most).
