I will be attending a conference in Denver during the end of October and while they probably have my dinner plans already laid out (someplace called Wynkoop Brewery for dinner one night) I might try to skip out and find some fellow winedorks to share a bottle or three with.

What I want to know is corkage permitted in Denver or should I leave the wine at home and make do with purchasing from the list if I can't bring something.

Corkage is illegal in Colorado, unless you know somebody. I always get a kick out of restaurants that give us a hard time, but have a line item in the computer for corkage.

Let us know if you have time available. You can email or PM me with questions, etc.

Wynkoop: it is a brew house. Figure on beer, to go with a mostly English menu (shepherd's pie, etc.). Formerly, maybe still currently, owned by the Mayor of Denver. Very popular hangout in the evenings, leave your wine at home but bring your best game of 8-ball with you.

Corkage in Colorado is something completely different than it is from the rest of the free world (consider it the moron Bronco factor). To the typical moron...err....Coloradoite....corkage is taking an unfinished bottle home with you....as in putting the cork back in.

In the past this was illegal, because the local moron police thought people who felt they had drank enough in a restaurant and corked the bottle might actually open the bottle on the way home and get drunk off their ass...forgetting the responsible behavior that they displayed in the restaurant. I kid you not...this was the excuse given to argue against the "corkage" law.

As a restaurant staff member told me in Breckenridge not three weeks ago.....bringing your own wine into a restaurant is illegal EVERYWHERE except California! Wow.....guess he knew what he was talking about. He was actually offended when I tried to correct him.....sigh.

*anybody offended by the previous comments needs to take a chill pill
