| I read every post in that "Where-New York City" thread and there was plenty of hub bub about Babbo, Per Se, etc. but there wasn't very much on QPR restaurants in NYC. There were a few posts on pizza places...
Let's define QPR for this thread purpose: cost per person excluding alcohol less than or equal to $30
Come on guys...where are those reviews on the ethnic restaurants? Pizzerias? Best street vendors?

| Been a long time since MLV and I lived in NY, but I have been to some of these places, some of the best old QPRs are not on the list (and some are no longer in business), but back in the day:
Cucina Stagionale unfortunately is long gone. We loved that place on Bleecker bettwen 6th and 7th Avenues. Cheap as (you know), and BYO. Amazing.
Il Corralo Trattoria is a pretty good pasta place on Prince that is (was) quite cheap and good just lousy service.
On the list:
Been to:
Otto (good food liked it less than everyone else) Totonnos Katzs Frank (not sure how this is on the list, there are far better inexpensive Italian places than this unless it has improved drastically since 95 or so when we went, doubt it). Lombardys Republic - This place was kind of passe when we lived in NY. Surely there are much better noodle places than this. Gray's Papaya.
T-Bird - as you live in Brooklyn and appear to obviously enjoy pizza, have you been to Di Faro's yet? It is on the list somewhre. We have a cousin that swears by that place.

| Our favorite was on this list at #78 Sip Sak at 928 Second Ave. NO CORKAGE! Excellent Turkish food. http://www.sip-sak.com/T-bird: Bring a bottle Turley and don't miss their Eggplant Salad Spread (like babganoush). Best we've ever had! Joe | | | |

| Lupa's menu is mostly in Italian. How the hell am I suppose to know what it is?
Mario Batali has a seafood restaurant called Esca that I haven't heard alot about. Also a few other places Casa Mono, Bar Jamon, and Bistro du Vent.

Click on Lupa Glossary on the left for translations. That's also printed as the last page of the menu when you eat there. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| A place in NY that I love a lot - Nook, it's on 9th Ave. NO corkage, they encourage you to bring your own, the food is good, and reasonably priced to boot. You can have an excellent meal for ~$20/person. | | | |

| Inside this was the second time i've dined here, both times being wine "events". they are byob friendly and corkage is $10 per person. it's still garlic month for them, so i had to pick between the 40 clove chicken or the garlic stuffed burger. i went with the burger. nice! the blue cheese "he-man" salad was really good too. recommended for it's low cost/high quality/byob friendly policy. | | | |
