This place looks awesome! Has anyone eaten at the Elderberry House? I know that it's received recognition from WS and National Geographics. What about the Bistro? Thanks in advance.

We ate at the restaurant last Saturday evening and it was superb. The fixed menu changes daily and is expensive ($92/person) but for us the experience was certainly in the ballpark of the restaurant's 28/27/28 Zagat scores. We also ordered the optional cheese course which was excellent. This is a must-try dining experience if one is up in the Yosemite area. The only negative is the wine list prices, which are quite steep. Corkage is $30/bottle, which we were much better off paying than ordering off the list (which is fairly extensive and impressive, aside from the prices).

We were impressed enough that we came back the next day and asked for a tour of the grounds/facilities. It's best to call ahead, but they were very accomodating and gave us a personal and very informative tour for over an hour. The main guest building, the Chateau du Sureau (sureau is french for elderberry), is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful, tasteful rooms, impeccable attention to detail. We were able to take a peak at a majority of the chateau's 10 guest rooms, and they were all stunning. Not huge or over-the-top extravagent, just beautiful, comfortable, warm, inviting, classy -- we'd stay there in a second. It's not cheap but is worth the tariff. The new spa is quite nice as well.
