Trying to sneak my other half on a nice vacation.

It has been a few years since I have been to spain... and it was before my wine days really kicked in. I don't have all my notes handy, but have a few restaurant recommendations off the top of my head....

Madrid- Stayed at emperador. Nice if you like classic old hotels. good location. A little over-priced.

Sevilla. We stayed at Hotel Simon and loved it. Good location, beautiful hotel. Inexpensive. I highly recommend.

Madrid-
Pacos for the best steak in the city. Don't be tempted to try anything else. Steak is king at Paco's.
Casa Botin just off the Plaza Major. Sit downstairs and try the rack of lamb or suckling pig.
Puerto del Morros. The most elegant restaurant we ate in. The pheasant en croute was wonderful.

Take a day trip to Valle de los Caidos, a memorila built intoi a mountain. Very impressive. A trip to Toledo is also worth taking.

You should try to spend at least one night at the Bussaco Palace Hotel for a really romantic evening. They have a great restaurant, great wine cellar (along with exclusive Bussaco wines)and the staff was wonderful to us when we stayed there one of the days during our honeymoon in 1985.

While in Lisbon you should take side trips to Sintra (castle) and Obidos (great walled town)
