| The dunes restaurant at The Ocean Club in Paradise Island is a must try for any one visiting this area. What an awesome experience. A-Z this restaurant was perfect in every aspect. The food was fantastic, the wine list was very impressive, and the service was first class. 2nd best dining experience this year after Le Citronelle in D.C. | | |

How was your experience beyond The Ocean Club and Paradise Island? I spent about 8 days in Nassau (Cable Beach) for a rugby tournament in May, and I was completely underwhelmed. I was impressed with the grandeur of Atlantis, but otherwise the island seemed to be in fairly rough shape.

| I'll try to get over to the Ocean Club on my next visit to New Providence island.
I avoid Nassau and Cable Beach when I visit the island, preferring to stay on the west end of the island, which is quiet and laid back. We sometimes go into town on a cloudy day, but that's about it. For a real Bahamian experience, I think you need to hit the Out Islands. The Abacos, Harbor Island, etc...
Paradise Island and Atlantis is like Vegas.

Indeed.
I will say that the Bahamian people were very friendly.

| Don't get me wrong. I think that Atlantis is a pretty amazing resort, and I would love to stay there some time. But to say that Atlantis is Bahamian is like saying that the Venetian in Vegas is Italian.
The Bahamian people have come a long way in their attitudes towards tourists, in my opinion. I can remember going to the Bahamas and having terrible service. Meals took forever because the staff wouldn't be bothered with things like bringing drinks to the table or taking orders for food. Today, the service at most places is friendly and efficient.

We stayed at the Atlantis which was a nice experience. Great for kids and adults. We had a blast; however we walked around town and it was pretty rough. I guess if you stay between the Atlantis and the Ocean Club you should be ok.
