| I love these definitive, if useless, pronouncements and rankings. Years ago The New Yorker ran a piece about the world's best Szechuan restaurant which, according to the author, wasn't in China but was on Kearney Street in San Francisco's Chinatown. The joke among the local foodies was that it couldn't be the best Szechuan restaurant in the world because it wasn't even the best on the block!

| How one can rank them in any order seems impossible. But this is certainly a great list.
FWIW, I've eaten at 6 of the top 15, but after that, my percentage drops off measurably. | | | Beta testing a new signature.

| Pretty obvious that this British magazine has way way way too many UK restaurants on its "World's" best list. | | | |

| Perhaps explaining why my percentage drops off so significantly. I have never considered going on a focused culinary excursion to the British Isles!! | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

| Let's hear it for a local favorite - Manresa! #38! I haven't been there yet, but I'm glad to see it is getting such great attention. | | | |

| I have only dined at one (French Laundry). I did not know that they named a restaurant after me though! Maybe I can get royalties. They even spelled it right. See # 8. I thought the British only ate fish & chips anyway.... | | | |

| Been to 4 on the list.
Jones, you make a good point. For a city NOT known for "food", this list sure does contain a # of London restaurants in the Top 50?!?

| VC's own Corkage with a bit of assistance from JohnnyB and Raybanz. Two meals courtesy of them in the last 11 months that have certainly been the most memorable, both flavor and presentation. | | | "We are the Hokies!" | |

That was my reaction also. The list is rediculous, generally and, imo, probably has too much -- and the wrong -- US stuff as well; but putting Nobu (London) 17 spots ahead of Auberge d'Ill (the two on the list I have been to) is laughable. Nobu isn't close to among the top 50 restaurantsI've been to.

| Been to only one of them #15. I hate these lists though. I prefer my own personal list. Quote:

Corkage's 'creation' dinners are fantastic. Way up there on my own personal list. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com
