| Any place decent around Times Square for lunch? Meeting my div. pres and our head of sales for a last minute strategy session before going to talk to a vendor of ours.
I have a funky, weird, RoadFood kind of place up my sleeve, but not sure if the other two guys would be OK with it. Need a backup.
TIA! | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com |

| Not sure what you have in mind, TJ. But, 2 NY delis are considered the best & are rather famous:

| I really liked Esca (on 43rd), but I've seen hot and cold reviews on it. Great wine, Italian crudi. We dropped a lot of money there :-/ | | | |

| TJ, not sure if you are still looking for a lunch place in NYC. But, I suggested 2 places (as posted above). I visited the Stage Deli over the Memorial Day weekend. It's a Jewish Deli that is very unique. Their sandwiches are very unique & fresh. They are huge, just huge. But, the meat is very fresh.
My wife ordered the salmon & sturgeon sandwich. The fish was also very fresh.
These 2 places are not your fancy, shmancy places. These are Jewish delis from the old days...
Recommend the place highly. The service is also very friendly.
P.S.: The Carnegie Deli (1 block away from Stage Deli) is very similar.
You will love it, I am sure. Not cheap, but like I said the sandwiches are huge. Also, if dining there, you have to take their signature sandwiches. That's what these 2 delis are all about.

| Howard Johnson's for the fried clams, before it's too late.
Not exactly a "Uglesich's Exit," but a notable one.

| Kinda like MacDonald's. Howard Johnson's and decent food are mutually exclusive. I learned that years ago. | | | |

I ate there about 3 years ago, and if memory serves me correctly, it was $21 for a deli sandwich I guess you get the location and the cache, but factor in the crowds and the prices before you bite.

| Carnegie Deli is phenomenal. I would pay $20 for one of their sandwiches - they're HUGE and the pastrami is, hands down, the best I've ever had. | | | |

| Thanks for the wriet-up LCC. I haven't been to either yet, but have a friend who went to the Carnegie Deli and loved it. I like Katz's Deli, for that type of thing, too.
For the biz lunch, I was hoping to get in to db Bistro Moderne once I knew how close it was to my vendor's offices, but they were booked, so we ended up at Triomphe. Not bad. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| I should have mentioned Le Madeleine on West 44th Street. Real nice bistro. | | | |

| Was in New York last week and popped in to Blue Fin for a pre-theatre dinner with friends. I thought it was quite good. Granted, not a fine dining establishment, but as the review says, "classier than a carnival". It is at 47th and Broadway, so smack dab in times square. I think it is in the W hotel, though it has its own street entrance. Also, I believe it is part of the "B R Guest" Restaurant group, which also does Ruby Foos and a few other places that are reliable. http://www.newyorkmetro.com/pages/details/8245.htmI'm wanting to try DB Bistro Moderne (Daniel Boulud's casual French bistro, as in Daniel Daniel). It is a little bit farther off from Times Square, but btw 5th and 6th ave on 44th. http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/11524232/Finally, Thalia is a place I found just last month, and I've enjoyed their selections a few times. Not quite sure what to call their cuisine... http://www.restaurantthalia.com/ | | | |

Do get there. It's quite good and definitely recommended. Try the 'burger'. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com
