I so miss the late great Jean L Palladin's Napa restaraunt at the Rio.
They never had an off night. It was my favorite place in the city.

Ant - I'm sure your report will be positive. Are you staying in the new section?

i think i am, i didn't think to ask. the name of the suite is the same as the name of the new tower though, so i do believe i am in the new section.

Cool. My wife was just out there in March and said the new section is "gorgeous".

Big thumbs up for The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. The suites are very comfortable with plasma screen TVs in the sitting area, wet bar, LCD TV in the bathroom. All for a little bit more $ then the regualr Mandalay rooms. Another good thing about it is that it is much less busy then the main hotel so there is virtually no wait for the valet or a taxi. The Mandalay resort is a great place to eat, drink, gamble, relax by the pool and enjoy the sights.

Hey Anthony,

I don't see how you'll have time to get to Mandalay Bay with all the amenities at the Venetian.
There are so many great places to eat at the Venetian; Delmonico's, Postrio, Pinot Brasserie and Bouchon. My sister and her husband ate at Bouchon recently and they loved it.

I am attending an anniversary dinner at Bouchon on the 29th, I was surprised corkage is only $25
I thought for sure they would juice that one for at least $40 -$50!

The new tower of suites at the Venetian; Venezia. The rooms are essentailly the same, a bit spiffier. The lobby is beautiful and has a private concierge for guests staying in the Venezia Tower.
Also, if you notice, directly to the north of the Venetian on Las Vegas Blvd ( to the left as you face it from the strip) many little hole in the wall establishments have been demo'd, Adelson will soon break ground on another tower so not to be dwarfed by the Steve Wynn property.

THe Mirage has more to do than the TI. It's also much nicer. The Mandallay Bay is much largerwith lots to do but it is on the very end of town.

I've stayed at theHotel twice since it's opening and love it. The meeting rooms aren't good if you're mixing business, with many of them on regular hotel room floors and low ceilings that aren't as conducive to using a projector. But the guest rooms are the cats meow. I plan on taking the missus there shortly and as an early riser, the sitting area keeps me from wandering the lobby (or casino) in the early hours, for only a little more than you'd pay for an Embassy Suites or Residence Inn arrangement. Three flat-screens in one hotel room however (incl the bathroom), may be a bit over-the-top. But then again, It's Vegas!

I've been to LV twice and stayed at Mandalay Bay both times. Both trips were during the week and the room rates were awesome and we upgraded to suites both times. If you are going check out their website because prices can vary greatly for different dates, in addition check back occasionally after you book both times I was able to knock off even more after my original reservation. I like the clientele at Mandalay Bay definitely a young and fit crowd with very little smoke. The location is a bit of a downside and the table limits a little high for me so usually took the shuttle to Excalibur or Luxor to play. I loved Aureole at MB, others I have enjoyed were the Steakhouse at Circus Circus (not the greatest wine selection but great deal), and Spago. Didn't try Delmonicos but have heard good things. Man I love vegas.

i stayed at mandalay once. aside from the pool i wasn't that impressed. for the life of me i can't figure out why the aren't safes in every room. vegas, a safe seems like a no brainer to me, unless they don't want me to bring anycash and gamble while i am there.

Ant- Your right I forgot about that, If I remember correctly you had to use safe deposit boxes at the desk? Like I said it's the only place I ever stayed so can't really compare. Both times I paid around $100 a night though and thought it was a great deal.

One night after checking in to a suite at the Rio, anxious to get to the tables, I found the safe was locked. I called for someone to open it. 15 minutes later, I called back...they had the room number wrong. 10 minutes later, someone from maintenence came up and opened it. There was a small stack of 100's in it and nothing else. He would not touch the money and immediately called security. 10 minutes later a security person came up but it was somehow the wrong one to handle this. Another 10 minutes passed and another security person, this time with a camera, came up. After taking photos and verifying that no one had touched the money, they counted the 15 bills and removed them.

They were nice enough to comp me to a dinner that came to $160+
