Mike,

I for one am envious -- I love Red Lodge, and traveling from there to Yellowstone via Beartooth Highway. That, along with the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier NP, are two of my favorite drives in the US.

We're just chillin' here in Memphis. 94 degrees, with dew forming in the grass during our refreshing 80-degree nights.
Cheers, y'all

Next time I am on the road for work or pleasure, I hope to have a different BB with me (TMobile) and I can theoretically post from the palm of my hand!

Just returned from Red Lodge. Did the drive back today in 9-3/4 hours, including stops. Actual drive time about 8 hours, part of which was spent airborne. Have to love setting the cruise at 90 mph.

We stayed in Thermopolis the first night on the drive up there. A veritable dining and wining wasteland, but that was expected. Day two, we drove up to Cody, and from there on the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway and Beartooth Highway. Turned a 2-1/2 hour drive into 5-1/2 mucho enjoyable hours. And stemor, I agree on the GTTS drive up at Glacier. I decided on this trip that we have to go back there again next year. The entire 12 hour or so drive from Red Lodge to Flathead Lake/Glacier remains the most beautiful long distance driving trip I have ever experienced.

And Joe, yes, I would highly recommend Red Lodge. The drive up is nothing much to look at, unless you go through the Sheep Mountains around Sheridan. But the town itself is a blast. I think this is the 6th time in 15 years we have gone to Red Lodge for the 4th. For the first time ever, rain dampened some of our activities. A great family experience, except for having to explain to a three year old what the police were doing at our house last night...

Disneyland, California Adventure, SeaWorld, Zoo and Wild Animal Park. I am parked out and more tired than when we left! Throw in a family wedding with wedding wine and call it a vacation....Me thinks it is Sanibel Island relaxation time!
