Most of the time, when you purchase a high-end Cab blend (Meritage, Bordeaux blend, whatever you call it) there is a small amount of Petite Verdot in the blend.

Is there such a thing as a stand alone 100% Petite Verdot???

Yes Trentham vineyard in Australia do one. Its very pleasant, solid chocolate and cedar notes. I sell it for around $10 USD.

Jeremy: Can it be found here? If not, how can I get one from you to try?

You don't often see this varietal bottled solo, but another Australian Petite Verdot that you might look for is Pirramimma. I've had both the '98 and '99 vintages, and they're very similar: wonderful floral aromatics, big berry/cherry/chocolate flavors, LOTS of tannin and very long finish. Sells in BC for C$28 and well worth it.

I've put 3 or 4 bottles of both vintages aside for a couple of years to see whether or not time will tame the tannins, but I'm not so hopeful it'll ever become silky. A very enjoyable wine for anyone who likes big, full-bodied reds.

Don't know of 100% but Viader's V is 55%.

Brent,
You should be able to get it there, otherwise I may just have to bring some with me(can you wait till November?). They also do a reserve Petit Verdot of far superior quality and I may bring that for interest.

There is a recent tasting note under "Australia" for the Pirramimma.

Brent, I finally saw the commercial with the Round Table pizza guy and the wine snob. Frankly, I couldn't stand the guy before mainly because the commercials were so dumb (splitting up the pizza, dressing up as grandma, etc.), but this commercial is pretty funny.

Brent, I think Murphy-Goode makes a nearly 100% Petit Verdot, I think you had it at our Bordeaux Blend components tasting, check your notes.

Oops, now that I think of it I think that was the tasting you missed. Any who, see if you can find the Murphy-Goode, I liked it actually, it could use some bottle time, but I thought it was decent stuff.
