My wine-loving father is turning 60 and I'd like to get him a special gift. He's mentioned how much he'd enjoy a Chassagne Montrachet (white), Chateau Leroy. I know a little about wine, but I now realize I'm in over my head on this one. Any help here? What is a good year? Where can I find one? Any details to look for?

Welcome to VC. Winesearcher.com is your friend. Search under "Leroy" and "Chassagne-Montrachet" and you will see multiple vintages of Chassagne. The Leroy Chassagnes are expensive but not as expensive as the reds. You can also pay $29.95 for an upgraded version of the search which will give you even more options (WineSearcher Pro). It might save you much more than that even on one bottle. Happy hunting.

Domaine Ramonet also makes some good Chassagne - look for 2004, 2005s in the market.

Other very good Chassagne producers to look for are Fontaine Gagnard, Jean Noel Gagnard, Lamy Pillot and Colin Deleger. jb
