| 1999 Valdivieso Malbec Single Vineyard Reserve (Central Valley, Chile) -- very dark purple; nice nose of berries, light vanilla; forceful flavors of blueberry, smoke/charcoal, vanilla, with some decent acidity; medium to long finish, with lots of fruit and soft tannins. I'm not a huge fan of Malbec, though I've enjoyed a couple from Argentina, but this was a pretty good wine. App. 87-8 pts.
Funny thing about this wine is the "Single Vineyard Reserve" designation on the label. There wasn't a "single vineyard" name mentioned anywhere, so I'm not really certain why it has this designation, other than a marketing ploy of course. | | |
