$11.00 375 ML

Mahogany red brown
Aroma;sweet butterscotch, and caramel,slightly hot
Flavor of mocha, raisin, and honey.
Nice long finish.

Less complex, more monolithic than Chambers; similar but cloyingly sweeter than Bullers; less preferred than those two, but still worth trying for the money.
90 pts.

I don't know this label. I'll be lazy and ask for you to tell me something about it instead of goggling it.

David,

It is also Australian, also from Rutherglen. It received the same score as the Chambers from Parker -- a 92 -- in the recent Wine Advocate, issue #143.

Latour67 and I (and BHVineyard, IIRC) compared these side-by-side and there was no real contest. The Chambers is a superior bottle of wine and one of the best values in the wine world today (uh, in my own opinion).

Cheers, y'all

After this I was compelled to buy the Chambers Tokay and Muscat.

This is Campbell's equivalent of the Chambers Regular Muscat. Same price range..Ballpark similar quality but not as good.

The Campbell's Merchant Prince Muscat, which I liked much better than this bottle, is analogous to Chambers Special Muscat in quality but more expensive, but I again preferred the Chambers' version. The Chambers' Special Muscat, which cost me $35.00 2 Junes ago, is a delicious Muscat, well worth it's cost. Several posts on WS have discussed this wine.

The Chambers Rare Muscat, to which I was treated late last year from a friend, is unbelievably unctuous, at that time the best Muscat I've ever had, but at $130.00 for a 375 ml is beyond my common sense barometer. However, I could drink the whole bottle myself in one setting, it's that good.

Also, please note that the new Chambers releases (Grand, Rare, Rutherglen-Regular) are not the ones I reported on over the last 18 or so months. Bottles are different. In fact, the Tokays are now called Muscadelles, though obviously the same grape varietal. Note that Parker's ratings have also changed as a result.

In any event, if you like sweet wines, these are worth the effort to seek and try and judge for yourselves.
