ALVEAR PX de Añada 2000 17% Alc. $9 for 375 ml. RP95

OK, this is good, but until RP posts a TN and rating on the Noé let's consider this 95 rating anecdotic. Old bronze to mahogany, with a density unthinkable in so young a PX, this comes with a slightly muted nose that detracts a bit and makes you long for the fully-aged PX experience. It is nonetheless a wonderful dessert wine with echoes of raisins, quince, dates, and a somewhat cloying sweetness that I do not mind at all. The 98 was the best of the trio, I insist, and this is somewhere in between that 98 and the slightly unbalanced 99. 90+ and what a bargain...

Had this tonight. This was a gift from our friend, wineismylife.

Wuh, this is like drinking raisins. Very concentrated, thick, sweet, silky, & heavy. Full body & a long, long finish.

It's a very good dessert wine. A little too concentrated for me, but I still enjoyed it. I would recommend this for any one that like that type of a dessert wine. If you prefer the lighter tasting dessert wine, this is not for you. If you like 'em thick (liquor-type), you will love it.

But still, full of flavor, body, & fruit...

What a coincidence. I was thinking about this last night. I was wondering if you'd popped the cork on this one as of yet.

Is this meant to be consumed now or held?

Either, imo - I can't see it getting any better, but it will surely hold for years.

Had half of this 375 tonight.

Color-Amber
Aroka- Muted is correct;surprising given intensity of flavor on tasting.
Flavor- Walnut/hazelnut with raisin and prune; slightly cloying sweetness noticeable and hiding the 17% alcohol perfectly; can barely see now after 3 bottles of wine followed by this; this is dense and primal. This is meant to be drunk now like the basic Oz stickies from Rutherglen

low 90's. Recommended [ though this was a freebie for me]

Had this again for Thanksgiving in a less inebriated state. The challenge of tasting and drinking dessert wines is to make them the meal, not a post 3 bottle afterthought. Vacuvined overnight in fridge.

The sweetness was more noticeably cloying and heavy, obscuring the nice underlying melange of flavors complexity trying to emerge. In true tasting analysis, this does detract for me. Rate the basic Buller Fines and Chambers Rutherglens 1 or maybe 2 pts higher.

Downgrade to 88-90. Closer to WS 86 than WA 95.
