Found some 375 s in a local shop. 11.5% EtOH

The best young Sauternes I have ever had.
Golden yellow.
There is nothing subtle about this delicious white, exuding pear and melon aromas, with complex lemon, slathered honey, and butternut flavors, and finely honed focussed botrytis that persists on a very long finish. This is huge and easily 5 pts better than the '01 Coutet, the only other Sauterne I have tasted from this year while awaiting my futures. I hope I can score some 750's to observe this beauty mature.
Highly recommended.
96-98 pts.

Sounds great. Mine is still on order. Seems to be the last one to arrive for some reason.

Gary-

I did. At the Newport News outlet. The price was no bargain $35.00, for 375's, I believe. Nikki gave me 10% discount on the 4 bottles they had because of a minor order foul up. But she seemed very nice and willing to help. That store is larger and retains more of the quality wines than the one here in VB, because there are more wine drinkers here than in NN.

They had 2 Rieussec as well, but I have more of those and 750's on futures order from Sams for much less, and they were no bargain at TW, being much higher, I think ~$55. Just decided the purchase cost wasn't worth it. I may or may not be able to get some Suduiraut from another board member, so I felt the need to at least be able to try some now[ and have at least something in reserve.] I am glad I bought them.

TW was trying to get some more of both from the TW distributor. Will they? Who knows? But they asked me if I wanted a special order? Give them a call.

Tried this over a two night period. First night it had complex flavors that were hard (for me) to pick out but I thought it was great bottle. I corked the bottle and placed it back in the fridge. The second night it blew me away, it had blossomed in to a fantastic little bottle. Great concentration of lemon, honey and tropical fruits. Nice balance of acidity and sweetness. The finish just stayed forever. This is a MUST BUY!

Similar experience to Cellarkeeper. the first night this wine was incredibly impressive but balled up like a fist and showing some odd plastic aromas. Last night, after 24 hours in the fridge it was just singing, with much more elegant flavors and fantastic balance between tropical fruit and botrytis honey. Yum!

I still prefer the 2001 Rieussec, but this is one great wine.

Damn it, I can't seem to score much of this in 375, but I'm making sure I get plenty of 750s.

I saw 375s on the shelf locally yesterday, but they'd raised the price from $39.99 to $59.99.

Dangit ........... I think I've arrived at the party a little to late. I'm going to go check out a couple of local stores, but I don't have much hope at this point.

This was just (12/22) at Wine Exchange for $39.99/half, $79.99/full. The 375s sold out in a day or so, the full bottles in several days. I grabbed 24 375s Keep your eyes open -- it will probably pop up again somewhere at a decent price.

BTW, winex has an excellent price on '01 Guiraud -- I picked up 24 375s of that as well recently for $24.99/half. Have tried twice and love the Guiraud -- a slightly lighter style than some of the other '01s I've tried -- e.g., L-P, LTB, Rieussec. Very, very nice though -- and a nice price.

Was just in my local shop picking up some Bdx I ordered and found a lone bottle (750) of this on the shelf for $64. So, I grabbed it and immediately asked the guy how much more he had. "None" was his reply.

Oh well, I'm not complaining about a relative great buy. I'm happy to have one at that price.

I uncorked this a few minutes ago to let it breath for tonight. Light straw in color, opened at cellar temperature. A touch of petrol on opening, but it blew off within minutes to soft lemon scents. At ten minutes in the glass I'm getting lemon, slight honeysuckle, and some vanilla aromas. In the mouth it is closed, but boy oh boy, this is good. Lemony, medium bodied palate initially, with just superb balance, no edges at all, just pure seemless citrus fruit. A good brace of acidity rounds out the lengthy finish. Not as long as others, but this is just opened. I have a good feeling this is just going to kick ass tonight.
This is the last big gun for me to taste, what a fall it's been!

I'm still waiting on my shipment of this wine. It is the last 2001 Sauternes that I've yet to receive.

From 750ml, 12 hours open. Sweet honeysuckle has nearly absorbed all the lemon on the nose with some acacia, pears, a touch of ginger, appricots and orange blossom all pouring from the glass. Rich botyrised citrus fruits with absolutely pure silk mouthfeel and balance. Now fullbodied with a long, long finish this is simply spectacular. While not as racy as the Rieussec, on an all around basis, this is a touch more complete at this time, though I must emphisize we are really splitting hairs here, to side by side them would be quite interesting. It took substantial restraint not to kill the whole bottle with foie. If it hadn't have been for the lonely bottle of '97 Insignia waiting for the steaks I think we would have been perfectly content to just sip this all night. Another landmark 2001 Sauternes, 98+ points.
