I got the bartender in Nebula in Ocean City MD to crack open an unopened bottle of this and sell me a glass. The color was difficult to determine due to restaurant lighting conditions, but the density in the glass was medium in swirl and viscosity. Most noteworthy about this wine was the reach out and grab you bouquet which was filled with nuttiness and a peachy fruit. The wine itself was slightly tart, very nutty, a little salty, and had a long nutty finish. 20% alcohol. No rating possible since I have no frame of reference with which to deal. Certainly I was grateful for the experience.

Dick, how much did he charge you for the glass? It's a pretty expensive bottle ( and a delicoius one at that).

There is the school of thought that an older, or yound depending upon reference, Madiera can benefit from several hours of airtime immediately upon opening. I wonder how it would be if you ventured back now for another sample.
I always wonder why more places do not have older madiera around. This is something you can pour by the glass for a couple of years if it takes that long to finish the bottle with no problems or detriment to the wine as long as it is capped.
