Tasted at BAWE's 2nd anniversary dinner on June 13th, 2004...
Wow, What a treat! Dark in color, almost brown, the nose has the obvious petrol/fossil fuel aromas along with classic sweet scents of botytis and spice (think clove!). Thick and oily on the palate, but with enough acidity to keep it lively, and a long sweet finish, this was a delightful wine with which to finish the evening!

For me, caramel and no acidity left; a curio......

Just curious..did you try to pair this with the chocolate dessert? My impressions mirrorred Eric's, but I tried a sip with the dark chocolate and it killed the acid and sweetness which was the wine's essence.

My memory is a litlle fuzzy at this point! I think I did try it with the chocolate. But what could be more subjective than a thirty some odd years old bottle of dessert wine from California? I have always mixed emotions about dessert wines that are that color (from age I mean). But Bob that White Rhone you brought.....wow.
