I purchased this directly from the chateau in France and arranged to have it delivered to my hotel in Italy so that my mom, dad and I could enjoy it while on vacation in Positano.

The condition of the wine was perfect in color, fill level and condition of capsule and label. The wine was recorked at the chateau in 2004. The cork came out in one piece, as it should with a 2 yr old cork. The color was a deep orange/amber color and the initial smell of baked citrus fruits and apricot was very pleasing. I did not want to serve this real cold, so as to hide the nuances of a 44yr old Sauternes. We decided to have Creme Brulee with this, and it was a good match. The one thing that I wish it had more of was core backbone of acidity. The wine was a cornucopia of creamy fruits and a touch of lemon rind on the back palate with a touch of petrol. The finish was medium in length and mouthcoating. If this wine had more acidity and a slighly longer finish I would have given this classic score. As is I would rate this bottle 91-92pts, and a pure joy to share with my parents in one of the most visually beautiful spots on earth.
