20.0% alcohol. Tasted over the course of several nights. Tasting note from May 24, 2006 after bottle had been open and in the cellar for about seven days. Doing remarkably well after a week being opened although the alcohol at this point seems to be a bit more dominant than the first few days after opening. Served in a Spigelau Sweet Wine glass. Light plum color in the glass, slightly opaque throughout. Nose of black licorice, fig, dried dark fruits and a pleasant maple aroma. Flavors of caramel, light molasses/sorghum notes and some almond notes on the medium finish. Nice on the palate, not cloying but a little towards the sticky side. Pleasant tawny that should probably be drank over the shorter term. Based on the $26.39 price I paid at retail locally (not one of my regular sources; could probably get even cheaper) I’d say the value here is recommended. I’d say this wine and the Kopke 15 year would pretty much be my go to tawnies at the moment.
