| Opened this for dinner (immediately decanted 1/2 into a 375ml bottle & put in fridge). Nice wine. A lot less oak than their 99 Estate chard, which I am thankful for. Doesn't seem to have quite as much concentration as the 99, but it's not wimpy either. But more on that later...
Had part (~1/2) of the 375ml a day or two later. The remainder hung around my fridge and countertop (I keep my house cool) for ~2 1/2 weeks. I was about to pour it out cuz I figure it's long gone (I hate wines that are even a little bit gone) but decide to taste it first.
Wow! Not only is it drinkable, but it tastes great, like it's still opening up. Very aromatic. Mayer Lemons with a bit of clove and pear in the background. Nicely balanced acidity and good length. A real pleasure to drink.
I've had more complex chards, but this is far from simple. AND its flavors are really well defined, and I like that.
Anyways, this is drinking well now but will age for at least 3-4 more years (and likely more). And it'll keep if you don't finish the bottle. | | | Ladd Cellars |

| What is the asking price for this these days? I used to buy this every year. I also usually enjoy this. | | | |

| The Estate chard is $30 (the River block chard is $45 and the South block is $50). Their chards are on a short list of cal chards that I like, so I think the prices are reasonable | | | Ladd Cellars | |

| I've had 2 of these since they arrived at my doorstep. Very happy with this one. As mentioned, not like chewing an oak board, opens up nice and is certainly a very good QPR (IMHO).
I am a very big Rochioli fan and this is quite a nice wine. Not up to their single vineyards, but given the price, and the variance in allocations, I am happy happy with this one.
I'll be letting the Pinots rest awhile though.... | | | |

| Yea, I really appreciate their lowering the amount of oak. I've always liked their fruit a lot but it was always hard for me to get past the amount of oak. I've bought it mostly cuz my sister likes it a lot. I did find that the oak integrates after 2-3 years of age (2-3 years after release). Was really surprised how much it integrates actually. But I'm happier with the lower initial oak. | | | Ladd Cellars | |
